Particular

When I was home for Christmas, my grandmother asked me when I was going to hurry up and have a baby and name it after her. I laughed and told her I was trying, but that I hadn't found anyone yet.

"You're just too particular," she said. "You and your cousin. Stop being so picky." I laughed and told her that I didn't think being particular was my problem - it was more that I just couldn't find anyone who acted right. (Ackrite, y'all.)

About a month later, when I was in Texas, I recounted this story to my father and he said, "Next time you talk to Jo tell her you're not being too particular - you're just trying to find someone your dad won't have to kill."

I always tell people that I haven't married yet because I only want to do it once.

LOVE IT! I used to tell people (the nosy biddies at my parents church) that when they make marriage legal for everyone including my gay and lesbien brethren that would be when I would get married. That was a quick stop to that question -then the Canadian government actually made it legal. Thank heavens I have a lovely man and no one has come back to me on that issue.

I LOVE IT.

When my mother asked when I am going to make her a grandmom already, I answered, "Why, I can go out there and make you a grandchild whenever you want. But wouldn't you rather that you have a son-in-law first?"

Shuts her right up. Now whenever the topic comes up, she insists that she wants us all to be married first, the grandkids can wait.

It just made me laugh because anyone who knows me knows I have the _exact opposite_ problem of being too particular!

And my dad is funny.
