Written August 2009

I started writing online in September 2000, on a GeoCities site that I oh-so-cleverly titled “Journey of a Girl.” I was 24, living in Columbus, Ohio, with my BFF and a little terrier mutt named Montego. I was working in the home office of a major American retailer and was constantly looking for love.

In the subsequent years I moved to Atlanta, waited tables, got a new job, bought a house, dated lots of people, rediscovered my relationship with God, surrendered my life to Him, went on a mission trip, got baptized and added a second dog — a mutt who showed up on my doorstep when she was only 11 weeks old. I named her Scout.

In January 2007 — on one of our weekly dog park trips — Scout and I met a really nice guy with a bulldog. We started dating and fell in love. (The man and me, not me and the bulldog. Ha.) He moved back to his home state of Minnesota for a new job, we got engaged, and on May 2, 2008, we got married in front of 100 of our friends and family at the Don CeSar Beach Resort in St. Pete Beach, Florida.

These days we live in rural Minnesota with our four dogs (oh did I mention he got a second bulldog shortly after we met?), and are working on adding a human child to our family.

Though I’ve been writing online since 2000, the archives only go back to 2005, when I upgraded to blogging software. (Before then I’d been hand-coding all my entries and uploading them via FTP. Which is practically like doing math on an abacus.)

Sometimes I wonder why I still do this — if I have anything left to say — but it’s become such a part of who I am and what I do that I can’t imagine giving up entirely. Thanks for following along.
