Just watched Bridget Jones's Diary. Was v. good. Makes me want to write like this.

Where is my Mark Darcy? This film could make make me love Colin Firth. But what will they do in case of sequel? Will Colin play both himself and Mark? Could be a conundrum.

I do think writing like Bridget could get old. Quite. Will quit.

Except I do want to say that the whole thing with Renee and her "weight" still burns me up right good. In the film "Bridget" weighs 136 and repeatedly refers to herself as fat. That's part of the character, I agree. But the whole point was that she WASN'T fat. She was just a typical woman with skewed self image. We can all relate, I'm sure.

But then, to hear Renee Zellweger comment, in every interview, how she porked up by eating ice cream and bacon and how "fun" it was to be fat. V. irritating. Made me hate her. Especially when you realize that she looks quite beautiful and is very thin, yet voluptuous. She's gorgeous! Does she realize this? Apparently not when she was insect stick figure at the Oscars. Gah.

I also think the movie didn't focus on Bridget's friends enough. Jude and Shazzer are two of the best characters in the book, I think. (In the opening, Jude calls from the loo about "vile Richard" and Bridget calls him "a knobhead without the knob." This is incredibly funny when you know that freshman year we called one of Kimi's boys, The Knob. Actually, her first college boyfriend dubbed said other boy, The Knob, but it caught on. The poor chap.)

And while I'm not Hugh Grant's biggest fan, he is quite delish as the devilish Daniel Cleaver.

I'm really about a year behind with all this commentary, aren't I?

I had quite the homebound weekend. Didn't end up going tailgating. Wasn't up to it. Didn't see Kara. All quite a shame.

But now it's Sunday afternoon, really one of the most perfect days of the week. Made for snogging on the sofa and reading each other the comics. Quite unfortunately, no one to snog with.

(I'm sorry, I'm on a roll.)

Anna Beth called from Journalcon, as expected, as they were all off to karaoke. Quite regrettable I couldn't regale everyone with my dead-on "Hopelessly Devoted." I even mock the baby pool scene. It's fabulous.

I'm finished, really.
